ISEQ climbs 37.92 by close of trading

The ISEQ index had a good day today, finishing up 37.92 to close the day at 5,386.40.

Allied Irish Bank slipped 1c to €12.99 while Bank of Ireland also dropped 1c to close at €10.83.

Shares in Anglo-Irish Bank were up 2c to €13.52. Irish Life & Permanent shares climbed 12c to €12.15.

Meanwhile it was another good day for Irish pharmaceutical Elan. The company's shares leaped €1.05 to close at €17.05, increasing the value of the company by more than 6%.

Construction shares fared well; CRH climbed 15c to €18.65 while Heiton was up 10c to €6.40. Grafton was up 5c to €6.75 while Abbey climbed 20c to €8.65.

The main movers today were AIB, Anglo-Irish, Kerry Group (down 6c to €17.30), Bank of Ireland and CRH.
