Meath gets new newspaper title

Three local papers in Co Meath have joined forces to form a new title The Meath Echo.

The Irish Village Newspapers-produced Ratoath News, The Local Echo and The Ashbourne And District Eagle have merged under the new title.

Speaking to Sunday Business Post, the editor of Irish Village Papers Mr Joe Doyle said: “The merging of the three titles will enable us to produce our very popular newspapers more often.

“Like larger national newspapers, The Meath Echo will only concentrate on local issues and local sports from south Meath.”

The free paper is available from most shops, community centres and GAA clubs throughout south Meath.

“This merging of our previous three titles into the Meath Echo will result in us moving into second place just behind the Meath Chronicle for readers of Meath-based newspapers,” concluded Mr Doyle.
