Calyx makes a Permanent improvement
Telecom solutions provider Calyx Voice today announced details of a major deal with Permanent TSB (PTSB).
Over the course of six months, Calyx will replace the existing telephone system in PTSB’s 113 branches throughout Ireland.
The deal is worth in the region of €500,000.
The proposed NEC Aspire telephony solution will be initially configured to upgrade the branches to an ISDN platform, which will give a more effective and efficient means for customers to communicate by telephone with the branch.
The next phase of the project will be to network all the branches via IP.
This should deliver better branch inter-connectivity, which in turn would deliver significant cost savings to the bank.
Calyx Voice is the exclusive distributor in Ireland for the latest NEC Aspire IP telephony solution, which is NEC's 'next generation' offering.
Irish Life & Permanent (IL&P) Group’s head of procurement Gerry Ebbs said: "Calyx Voice were selected after a very detailed investigation of the various options available to us.
“The Aspire solution chosen demonstrated exceptional user friendliness, resilience and excellent future proofing and offered us a compelling technical and commercial opportunity.
“Calyx have proven experience in large roll-outs like this and their approach reflected a clear understanding of the logistics of branch networks like ours"
Calyx Voice’s managing director Ger Coakley said: "The deployment and support of such mission-critical technology to Permanent TSB is further endorsement of the Calyx position as the leading communications partner in the Irish market."
Ordinary shares in IL&P were down 2c at €12.43 at 12.30 pm today.
