Oil prices hit new high

Oil prices hit a fresh record high today following warnings of possible terrorist attacks against financial institutions in the United States.

The cost of crude surged to 43.92 US dollars a barrel in New York as the security alert hit a market already stretched by high demand and inadequate production.
