Hopes of averting further strikes on London Underground rose today following a meeting between union leaders and the Mayor of London.

Rail Maritime and Transport Union General Secretary Bob Crow is believed to have held face-to-face talks with Ken Livingstone to try to settle a row over pay which led to a 24-hour strike last month.
