Marks & Spencer boss Stuart Rose today denied any wrongdoing in a share deal completed hours after a phone call with retail tycoon Philip Green.

Mr Rose said he was “perfectly satisfied” with his behaviour in buying 100,000 shares in M&S on May 7 – five days before Mr Green informed him of an intention to bid for the retailer.
