Call for Croke Park to open to other sports
Dublin Chamber of Commerce has proposed that soccer and rugby be allowed play at Croke Park.
The body believes that during redevelopment of Lansdowne Road, millions of euro will be lost for each match not played there.
Chamber of Commerce spokesman Cian Connaughton has said: “The only argument against the proposal is that other stadia should be provided for other sports and the Croke Park facility should be specifically reserved for gaelic sports.
"We are not necessarily arguing against those particular lines but what we are saying is that the value of these games which could potentially be lost to Dublin are so important.
"The economy and employment in Dublin would be done a great service by the opening up."
