Drinks group calls for ID scheme to combat underage drinking

A national ID card to help stem alcohol abuse amongst underage drinkers should be introduced, according to the The Drinks Industry Group of Ireland.

It said it was a matter of "serious regret" that a Public Service Identification Smartcard was left off the list of 10 key recommendations made by the Joint Oireachtas Committee on 'Alcohol Misuse by Young People' yesterday.
