German GDP expected to grow

German gross domestic product is expected to grow 0.6% in Q2 of this year.

German gross domestic product is expected to grow 0.6% in Q2 of this year.

Recent data had indicated growth being driven primarily by foreign demand, according to German economists.

However, they cautioned that domestic consumption was still too weak to propel an economic upswing.

The Deutsche Institut fuer Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW) said today: "External recovery is the decisive factor in the current economic pick-up but for a rigorous upswing, domestic demand is still too weak at the moment."
