Model results at Hornby as profits rise 20%
Scalextric group Hornby said it had the platform for further growth today after seeing annual profits rise 20% to £6.5m (€9.7m).
The company’s prospects have been buoyed by two recent deals, allowing it to replicate the success of its British operation in continental Europe.
Chief executive Frank Martin said the bolt-on acquisitions in Spain and Italy meant Hornby was now at an “exciting time in its development”.
At the same time, he said new product launches, including a range of MotoGP Scalextric motorbikes, had ensured further organic growth with turnover for the year to March 31 up 14% to £39m (€58m).
Mr Martin added: “We have proved that our extended ranges of Hornby and Scalextric appeal across the generations.”
