Payments software provider Trintech has appointed Dr Jim Mountjoy as a non-executive director to its board.

Dr Mountjoy has over 30 years of business and commercial experience in the IT industry and was a co-founder of a telecoms signalling systems firm, Euristix Limited, in 1990.

The company was subsequently acquired by Fore Systems and again in April 1999 by GEC, formerly Marconi.

Dr Mountjoy is currently non-executive director in a number of companies in the technology sector and is a director of the Science Foundation of Ireland, Chairman of ICT Ireland R&D Advisory Committee and an Advisory Board member of a number of Irish-based venture capital companies.

Cyril McGuire, Chairman and CEO of Trintech said: "Jim's track record in successfully building and managing growth in a global environment will be invaluable at board level as Trintech builds on the foundations for sustained profitability in its key markets."
