100 new jobs for long-term unemployed on Dublin's north side
Participants in a new joint initiative by the Northside Partnership will take up to 100 of the 350 jobs at Tesco Ireland's new Clare Hall store due to open on Dublin's north side on July 19.
The Northside Partnership is working with Tesco Ireland, FĂS and Mandate to ensure that participants complete a training programme, which will result in FETAC accreditation in the form of a Retail Sector National Skills Certificate and a job at Tesco.
Tesco Ireland allocated 100 of the available positions to assist long term unemployed individuals in the area to re-integrate them into the workforce.
Fiona Nolan, Employment Programme and Enterprise Manager, Northside Partnership, said: "In an area of Dublin where a level of 16% unemployment currently prevails, compared to the national average of 4.4%, this is a very important development.
âIt's great to see that a large employer such as Tesco is taking positive steps to engage with and provide career prospects for some of our long-term unemployed.
âOver 300 people took part in information sessions to learn more about the Tesco initiative and the feedback to date from the 65 current participants has been overwhelmingly positive.â
