O2 appoints new chief financial officer

02 Ireland has appointed Paul Whelan as its new chief financial officer.

Ireland's second largest mobile operator said Whelan was chief financial officer at GE Capital Woodchester prior to his appointment.

He previously held a number of senior finance positions in the General Electric group.

Chief executive, Danuta Gray, said: "Paul is a welcome appointment to the senior management team of O2 Ireland."
