Website initiative to promote cross border firms

A website initiative by a Cork company and Belfast’s Visitor and Convention Bureau was announced today to promote each other's products.

The Cork-based travel firm Openjet Ltd's website, www.openjet.com, and www.gotobelfast.com - Belfast’s Official Tourism website - are to "create a strong partnership", according to John Walsh, Director of Marketing, Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau.

Mr Walsh said: "The Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau actively sources new audiences to market Belfast as a vibrant weekend destination as well as an established business, conference and cultural centre.

"Openjet's website has the added value of providing travel solutions for those wishing to fly from the Continent to the City of Belfast, crucial to first class visitor servicing."

Pat O’Shea, Managing Director of Openjet said: "There is a noticeable lack of scheduled direct flights to Belfast from the continent making business and leisure travel to Belfast difficult for many Europeans.

"However as openjet automatically combines optimum connecting low fare flights within Europe, so it simplifies air travel to Belfast."
