Permanent-TSB has reported a slight slowdown in house price increases during the month of March.

The company’s latest house price index showed that prices increased by 0.7% last month, a slight fall on the 0.9% increase recorded in February and the 1% increase recorded in March 2003.

On an annual basis, Permanent-TSB said house prices had increased by 12.9% in the year to the end of March, down from the 13.3% and 13.4% increases registered in the 12 months to end of February and January respectively.

It said the average price paid for a house in Ireland last month was just under €239,000.

The average price of houses in Dublin was put €314,000, compared to less then €210,000 in the rest of the country.
