De Rossa seeks on-the-spot fines for work safety breaches
Labour Party MEP Pronsias de Rossa has called for the introduction of on-the-spot penalties for breaches of work safety laws.
Mr De Rossa made the call today in response to figures showing that Ireland had the fourth-highest level of serious accidents in the workplace of all EU countries.
The Labour MEP said the Government should tackle the situation by introducing on-the-spot fines for breaches of work safety laws, doubling the number of building site inspectors and passing corporate manslaughter legislation.
