Siemens pull staff out of Iraq

German engineering giant Siemens has pulled its staff out of Iraq because of security concerns.

It was a setback for reconstruction efforts amid this month’s wave of violence.

The firm suspended its operations following a warning by the German Foreign Ministry that called on its citizens to leave Iraq, said Iraqi Electricity Minister Ayham al-Samarie.

Siemens was helping rehabilitate Iraq’s power stations.
