Irish waste management company Greenstar is to increase its staff numbers by around 65% over the next three years.

Irish waste management company Greenstar is to increase its staff numbers by around 65% over the next three years.

Greenstar expects to create up to 280 new jobs during this period, half of which will be for graduates.

Graduate recruits, mainly with environmental engineering qualifications, currently account for approximately 25% of Greenstar staff.

Recently-appointed CEO Steve Cowman said the company would be investing between €160m and €180m in the upcoming expansion.

He expected the workforce at Greenstar to reach number between 650 and 700 as a result.

The company is owned by National Toll Roads. It engages in a range of recycling and reprocessing operations and also offers landfill facilities and biological treatment of waste.

Greenstar clients include Coke, EMC and Intel. Mr Cowman said that the expansion would be funded by a combination of acquisitions, joint ventures and infrastructure investments.
