Father of www lands million-euro prize
The inventor of the world wide web, British scientist Tim Berners-Lee, has been named as the first winner of the Millennium Technology Prize by the Finnish Technology Award Foundation, winning €1m as a result.
In 1991, he come up with a system to organise, link and browse net pages which revolutionised the Internet, while he was at the Particle Physics Institute in Geneva.
