Esat BT lands Maritime College contract
Esat BT have been awarded the ICT services for the National Maritime College in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.
The 750-student college is currently under construction and all of its ICT needs will be outsourced to Esat BT in a €1.5m deal.
It is hoped that this all-in deal will reduce the cost and the complexity of the operation as well as shorten installation times.
"Esat BT offered FocusEducation the best value solution for network and IT services," said Keith Davis, project manager for FocusEducation, the company who will run the college.
"In addition, BT in the UK has a proven track record of working on similar public-private partnerships and has a good history of delivering on our other projects."
Education and training facilities at the Maritime College will also service the needs of the Cork Institute of Technology and the non-military requirements of the Irish Naval Service.
Esat BT's Anne O'Leary commented: "FocusEducation's priority was to consolidate multiple vendors for the provision of IT services and Esat BT readily stepped up to this challenge.
"Our solution for the National Maritime College in Cork is a perfect example of our strengths and credentials in the ICT space."
