New British routes for Shannon
Two new routes linking Shannon Airport with Birmingham and Edinburgh have been announced by the British airline Duo.
Both routes will commence operations on June 1 and will have two flights per day on them.
According to Aer Rianta estimates, approximately 28,000 passengers travelled between Shannon and Edinburgh via Dublin last year.
With the extra convenience of a direct flight, this number is expected to rise.
The plane from Shannon to Birmingham will continue on to Berlin after landing in the midlands city.
Birmingham is the airline's European hub.
Duo was founded last year after a management and staff buyout of Maersk Air UK, which had operated a BA franchise out of Birmingham for the previous 10 years .
