The mc2 Mastercard is being issued for the student market by AIB, who say that this new format represents "the only change to credit card shape in Ireland over 30 years".

"Our research shows that students are influenced by design," claimed Michael McCarthy, Head of AIB Card Issuing.

The card will have a €600 credit limit and a 9.9% purchase APR fixed for 12 months. It will be available to full time third level students over 18 years of age.
