Giant Airbus wing is unveiled
The largest aircraft wing built for passenger flights was unveiled yesterday.
The 45-metre wing was built by Airbus at its factory in Broughton, north Wales and will be used on the world’s largest commercial aeroplane.
The twin-aisle, twin-deck Airbus A380, which aims to set the standard for all large aircraft developments, will be able to carry 555 passengers.
A military-style operation was launched to transport the wing, which weighs 38 tonnes, to the French city Toulouse, where it will be tested.
