US airlines open higher for second quarter

In the US, airlines opened the second quarter of the year higher today since losing ground during the first three months of 2004.

The Amex Airlines Index added 0.1% to 56.17 as the industry prepares for March's operating results.

Early movers included AMR and Continental Airlines, both up modestly in active trading.
