Datalex has signed a multi-year deal with leading Japanese travel group JTB Corporation.

The ISEQ-listed travel software firm becomes the first foreign technology company to be awarded a contract of this kind.

Datalex's BookIt! Suite of software has been selected to complement the wide range of pre-packaged and escorted tour programs offered by JTB.

The deal sees Datalex working with JTB's internal IT organization, JTB Systems Solution Inc (JSS), and a number of local Japanese partners.

Damian Hickey, Datalex SVP Business Development.said: "Along with our existing contracts in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia, this represents a further strengthening of Datalex's position in the global marketplace."

Shares in Datalex were up 1c to 63c on the ISEQ this afternoon.

Founded in 1985, the company is headquartered in Dublin and has offices across Europe, the USA and Asia-Pacific.

JTB Corp was established in March 1912 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Originally called Japan Travel Bureau, it underwent a name change in 2000.

With an annual total sales turnover of approximately $15bn (€12.36bn) and about 11,000 employees, JTB Corp. is the largest and most established travel operator in Japan.
