CPL boosts healthcare offering with acquisition of competitor

Irish employment services group CPL Resources has said it has bought nurse placement agency Medical Personnel for an undisclosed sum. CPL has recently seen a pick-up in business in the Pharmaceutical sector and this acquisition will ensure them a firm foothold in the market.

"This acquisition is an ideal fit with our overall strategy for growth and diversification. It dovetails with our existing business in the healthcare sector and complements our current suite of specialist recruitment companies," Anne Heraty, chief executive of Cpl Resources said.

Medical Recruitment Specialists will operate through offices in Dublin, Limerick, Cork and Galway, and will employ over 1,000 nurses and healthcare professionals.

In January CPL reported a 35% rise in interim pre-tax profits to €941,000. Shares in the company on the ISEQ in Dublin were down 10c to €0.80 at noon today.
