ISME, the independent business lobby group, has called on the Irish Congress of Trade Unions to intervene in the Bus and Rail dispute called for Thursday in order to prevent public transport coming to a standstill.

ISME Chief Executive Mark Fielding said: "It is absolutely imperative that ICTU as the representative body of trade unions in Ireland comes out of hiding and takes a tough stance on the bus and rail dispute.
