BT close to purchase of Transcomm
Telecoms firm BT tonight moved a step closer towards the purchase of a wireless data company, it announced.
The company’s offer for Transcomm, whose customers include Anglian Water, Kwik Fit and the RAC, was declared unconditional after conditions set out in a document last month were satisfied.
The offer will now remain open for acceptance by Transcomm shareholders until April 5.
Transcomm provides a range of mobile and fixed wireless data systems to blue chip companies, local government and emergency services across the UK.
Services include pay and display meters, security monitoring and credit card authorisation.
The AIM-listed firm provides more than 95% population coverage and 99.5% service availability to business, corporate and public sector users.
Its other customers include TNT, Sussex Police, Sussex Ambulance and Hampshire Fire and Rescue.
No details were given of the amount being offered by BT.
