Fears for euro economies after Madrid blasts

The German and European economies will suffer if the train bombings in Madrid are linked to the terror network of Al-Qaeda, a leading European economist said today.

Hans-Werner Sinn, president of the German Economic Institute LFO warned there would be serious repercussions for European economies.

"If Arab terrorists are behind this, and the attacks are the start of a series of terror in Europe, we will then definitely have major economic problems," Sinn said in an interview with Handelsblatt newspaper.

The interview was published this afternoon.
