Financial watchdog warns of new batch of scams
The IFSRA, the financial watchdog, has said that Irish consumers are vulnerable to a new batch of sophisticated scams through the internet, post and phone.
IFSRA Consumer Director Mary O'Dea says that in recent weeks there has been an increasing number of scams, coming through phone calls to people's homes and via their emails, which look for people's bank account numbers and pin numbers.
O'Dea warned that people need to be extra vigilant and that fraud is costing the global economy €6-10bn each year.
