US jury decides IBM not responsible for cancers

In a major victory for the electronics industry, a California jury has decided that IBM was not responsible for cancers that developed in two former employees at a disk drive plant.

The Santa Clara jury deliberated for less than two days before clearing the computer giant of claims that the harsh chemicals used in the factory contributed to the workers’ disease.

The case was brought by two retired employees diagnosed with cancer in the 1990s. They claimed IBM hid the dangers of their job.
