Online grocery sales top half billion at Tesco

Tesco today announced that is has achieved annual on-line grocery sales of over €500m.

This makes it the world's largest online grocer, covering 96% of the United Kingdom and delivering over 110,000 orders a week.

Online sales last year were over €440m with internet shopping in Ireland, Britain, Korea, and through a joint venture operation in the United States in California and Oregon.

In Ireland , the company is the largest food retailer in Ireland operating approximately 79 stores nationwide and employing over 10,000 people.

Last week, Tesco Ireland opened it's first petrol filling station on Deerpark Rd., Killiney.

Tesco Ireland has grown steadily with revenues increasing annually and growth in 2002-03 was 7.8% with total sales of €1.79bn.
