Norwegian oil and gas exploration company, Statoil ASA, has said it will deliver up to 6.5 billion cubic metres of gas to Dutch energy company Essent.

Norwegian oil and gas exploration company, Statoil ASA, has said it will deliver up to 6.5 billion cubic metres of gas to Dutch energy company Essent.

Statoil operates in 25 countries, focusing its upstream activities on the Norwegian continental shelf, the North Sea, the Caspian Sea, Western Africa, and Venezuela.

It runs 1,500 service stations in Scandinavia, Ireland, Poland, Russia, and the Baltic states.

Statoil also has a stake in petrochemicals venture Borealis.

This latest contract covers up to 1.4 billion cubic metres per year and will be supplied via Statoil's terminal at Emden in Germany for about five years starting at the end of this year.
