The Bank of China has confirmed that its vice chairman Liu Jinbao has been sacked and is under investigation for possible involvement in "economic crimes".

The Bank of China has confirmed that its vice chairman Liu Jinbao has been sacked and is under investigation for possible involvement in "economic crimes".

"The board of directors of the bank has decided to dismiss Liu Jinbao from his position of vice chairman and the decision has been approved (by regulators)," the bank said in a statement on its website.
