Bank of China’s Hong Kong unit, the city’s second-largest lender, said former chief executive officer Liu Jinbao is being investigated by authorities in China for alleged misappropriation of funds for “personal purposes”.

The Bank of China has confirmed that its vice chairman Liu Jinbao has been sacked and is under investigation for possible involvement in "economic crimes".
