Exploration company Aminex has said that wireline logging has again been temporarily suspended on its Nyuni-1oil and gas exploration well at offshore Tanzania.

In a statement issued to the Irish stock exchange, Aminex said that it has hit a very difficult section of the well which has necessitated modifications to the drilling programme.

It also reported as 'extremely difficult' the logistics of a long supply chain to offshore East Africa.

On a positive note, geochemical analysis of cuttings, have indicated clear evidence of crude oil in the region.

Aminex Chief Executive Brian Hall said today :"Preliminary logging of gas sands and traces of crude oil in shales make us optimistic about Nyuni-1, even though we are having to overcome some operational problems.

"The oil traces identified in Nyuni-1 could possibly be the key to the oil potential of the whole region," he added.
