VHI members to get multi-trip travel insurance

VHI Healthcare is to offer members multi-trip travel insurance.

This will allow full travel insurance, covering all trips taken in an entire year for a single payment.

The multi trip travel prices begin at €49 for individuals, €69 for couples and €95 for families.

Chief executive Vincent Sheridan said: "VHI Healthcare’s 1.55 million members are already covered for overseas medical emergencies on core plans under 'VHI Assist'.

"We realised that many of them were buying full travel and medical insurance for their holidays and trips overseas, and in effect this means they were paying twice for emergency medical cover.

"By introducing this exceptionally competitive offer for members we are releasing even greater value from their VHI policies," he added.

Research has shown that almost 40% of the population are likely to purchase travel insurance in the next 12 months.

The multi-trip travel insurance market is expected to grow to about €600,000 in the next year or two.
