The deputy chief executive of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) Martin Wheatley has resigned after 18 years with the company.

The deputy chief executive of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) Martin Wheatley has resigned after 18 years with the company.

Wheatley had competed against current chief executive Clara Furse for the top job at the LSE three years ago.
