Registrar of credit unions, Brendan Logue and Chief Executive of the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority, Liam O'Reilly will hold a series of meetings with credit unions throughout the country to discuss issues and challenges facing credit unions in the coming years.

Registrar of credit unions, Brendan Logue and Chief Executive of the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority, Liam O'Reilly will hold a series of meetings with credit unions throughout the country to discuss issues and challenges facing credit unions in the coming years.

Among the issues on the agenda are funding of regulation, further development of savings protection for members, enhancement of corporate governance and internal control systems, implementation of on-site inspections and the need to develop the areas of information and education.

The meetings will be held in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Sligo, Limerick and Athlone.

Logue said: "As we enhance the regulatory system for credit unions within the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority, I am very anxious to work in partnership with the representative bodies as we develop our structures".
