Siemens Mobiles sees record growth

Siemens Mobile has reported a more than double worldwide group profit on its first quarter year on year results, to €123m.

The Siemens Information and Communication Mobile Group offers a range of mobile solutions including mobile devices, infrastructure and applications.

Sales for Siemens Mobile rose 4% and new orders increased 20%.

The mobile phones division sold a record 15.2 million handsets, up from 11.0 million in the same period 12 months earlier.

Brian McMenamin, Business Unit Manager, Siemens Mobile Ireland said: "Siemens has firmly established itself in the Irish market as a leading provider of mobile handsets and we're proud of our ongoing innovation in the technology and design of our products."

Siemens Mobile logged a record shipment of 15.2 million units in Q1, which relates to a 39% increase on last year, the highest in the industry.
