New airline offers low cost travel, plus leg room
A new European low-cost airline is to begin flights to the UK later this month.
German carrier V Bird Airlines will start weekday daily services between Manchester and Niederrhein, near Dusseldorf, on January 29.
A Sunday service will also operate from February 1 to March 28, with the airline claiming to offer more leg room than other no-frills carriers.
V Bird will be using 162-seater Airbus A320s on the route and is offering one-way fares from £27
(€39).
Niederrhein is the 7th German destination served from Manchester. There are already regular services to Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart.
Manchester Airport managing director John Spooner said: "With the unbelievably low fares being offered by airlines, travel is becoming more and more affordable and I am delighted to add Niederrhein to our growing route network."
Meanwhile, another German low-cost carrier Hapag Lloyd Express will operate four return flights every week on the Manchester-Stuttgart route from April 1, with return flights starting from £27.99 (€40).
