Bill for EU Presidency over €90m
The EU Presidency will cost Irish taxpayers approximately €500,000 for every day this country is in charge and the total bill will be above €90m.
According to reports, €23m was spent on preparations last year and €60m has been allocated this year, but this is not the final tally since some Government departments have yet to disclose their allocations.
The EU Commission are also set to bill the Government for any meetings which had previously been scheduled to be held in Ireland but moved to Brussels, which will push the bill higher.
