London City jobs to reach record levels in 2006
London's financial centre is set to employ a record number of people by 2006, according to a report from the Center for Economics and Business Research (CEBR).
The number of City workers should hit an all-time high of 327,000 by mid-2006.
This increase will be led by a recovery in share prices and better prospects for economic growth.
The CEBR pointed out this forecast assumes the global economy avoids serious disruption between now and 2006.
The collapse in share prices following the bursting of the dot.com bubble lead to the loss off 15,000 city jobs two years ago.
According to the CEBR, the number of City-type jobs dropped to 304,000 in 2002 from 319,000 in 2001.
