Heathrow check-in staff to walk out

Check-in staff working for Spanish airline Iberia at Heathrow Airport were staging a 24-hour strike today in a row over pay.

Up to 30 members of the GMB union were walking out from Terminal 2.

The union said the industrial action would disrupt Iberia flights.

Official Ed Blissett said the dispute affected only a handful of workers involved in a row over grading.

“I am disappointed that the company will not see sense,” said Mr Blissett.

An Iberia spokesman said: “This is news to us. We have not been advised of any problems.

“All our flights will be operating as per normal. We have no indication to the contrary.”

The workers are employed by Aviance.
