The leading clothing company in Northern Ireland, Desmonds, made 293 employees redundant today with the closure of two textiles factories in Co Derry at Newbuildings and Springtown.

Last month the Marks & Spencer supplier announced it was closing its manufacturing plants in the North and moving abroad to cut costs.
