Harney promotes eBusiness campaign

Tánaiste Mary Harney has launched a campaign to increase awareness among small companies of the benefits and importance of engaging with eBusiness.

The Open Up campaign is supported by the Information Society Fund, through the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

The initiative is organised by Enterprise Ireland and is delivered through Enterprise Ireland's website at www.openup.ie.

The aim of Open Up is to help Irish managers determine how best to deploy eBusiness and IT within their organisations in order to successfully grow their businesses and gain competitive advantage.

According to the eBusiness Monitor Report published by Forfas, Ireland compares very favourably to other leading economies in terms of attracting ebusiness related investments such as Google and eBay and in the creation of eBusiness related enterprises.

"The one area where our performance lags behind that of other countries is when it comes to the adoption of eBusiness by existing enterprises," said Harney.

The Open-up website includes information and guidelines under a number of headings, which can be sourced by issue or content type.
