BskyB berated by report as being "anti-fan"

BskyB was slated by a report published today for its near monopoly on screening Premiership League football matches.

The report, commissioned by the UK Consumers Association, said this monopoly is anti-consumer, anti-fan and anti-competitive. In August the FA Premiership League awarded the rights to 138 live matches to Sky for £1.02bn (€1.4bn).

The research findings will add to pressure on the European Commission to rule the Sky deal with the FA Premier League illegal.

The Commission is currently conducting an inquiry into the how the contract was awarded and has the power to block the deal and also fine the League.
