MyTravel Irish/UK CEO resigns

The chief executive of MyTravel Group's Irish and UK operations, Duncan Wilson, has resigned.

The troubled global leisure travel company which was formerly called Airtours, owns Irish tour operators Panorama and Airtours.

Philip Jansen, MyTravel Group's chief operating officer, will take direct charge of MyTravel's businesses in the UK and Ireland.

The company has battled to recover from profit warnings and accounting errors last year. The group has suffered from cost overruns at its British airline and tough conditions in Scandinavia and North America.

MyTravel has operations in 24 countries. The group employs approximately 25,000 people and has recently cut 2,000 jobs.
