Racegoers forum to open in south-west

Horse racing enthusiasts in the south-west of Ireland will make their voices heard at the first Racegoers Consultative forum to be held tomorrow night.

The forum's aim is to attract members of the public with an interest in racing to suggest how to improve the race-day experience.

The managers of all six racecourses in the region - Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Tralee, Killarney, and Listowel - will be present to hear feedback and queries from the public.

It is hoped that overall, a series of recommendations will be made to Horse Racing Ireland, who brokered the initiative, to address the needs of the race-going public.

The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O'Donoghue will officially open the Forum at 7pm in the Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare, Co Limerick on Thursday night, November 27.

TV racing pundit Brian Gleeson - who recently presented TV3's Go Racing programme - will chair the meeting.
