Tony Donnelly has been appointed as deputy chief executive of the Electricity Supply Board (ESB).

Tony Donnelly has been appointed as deputy chief executive of the Electricity Supply Board (ESB).

Donnelly, aged 57, who is currently the ESB's group finance director, joined the company in 1963 and has held a number of senior financial management roles including Group Financial Controller prior to his appointment as Group Finance Director in 1997.

According to ESB chairman Tadhg O'Donoghue: "Tony Donnelly has vast experience and financial expertise and will enhance the strong management team in place, bringing emphasis to strategic planning within the company."

ESB Chief Executive Padraig McManus said: "His assistance and support will be critical to the continued progress and development of ESB and the achievement of the company's challenging targets."
